OT...semi insurance?

If you want to know about truck insurance Call owner operator independent Association, Or OOIDA. when I owned my trucking buisness they helped a lot. provided cheap insurance too.

ACORD INS is referring to the ratings on the semi policy.

"ACORD, the Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development, is a non-profit organization that provides the global insurance industry with data standards."

I ran into this on some Brokered freight several years ago. The shipper was requiring an ACORD number on/from my policy. What I found out then was that number/rating is kind of like your credit score. The ACORD number tells an insurance company the risk of insuring you or your class of vehicle. I was told it is a world wide rating and is more common in the EU.

ACORD sets the standards that most (all?) insurance companies follow (kinds of coverage and what is covered) - right on down to the insurance certificate form. If your agent doesn't know this you do need a new agent.

We get contracts all the time that some lawyer dreamed up that specify the contractor will provide insurance coverage for any and all losses the owner may suffer during construction - even if the contractor had nothing to do with the loss. No insurance company will write policy to meet that demand - and will point to the ACORD standards as the reason.
