So I was going to move Case VAC I have that needs some work. One of the rear tires had a small leak in the tube. I was airing it up and noticed the bead did not look right and I knew it was time to pull the air chuck off and step back away from it. I did not get 5 steps when the tube blew as the bead of the tire where the wires are broke. Now it has about 2 foot of broken wires sticking out the side of the tire. Had I not steps back those wire could have been a very nasty cut or worse. Bad thing is I do not have any spare tires in that size laying around. I have 5 24 inch tires on hand but no 28 inch tires on hand

Dang Glad you got out of there in time! I have had a couple let go not a good thing ever,, if you were close by I would bet I could help you with a tire

There was a man killed near here airing up a tire on his one-ton truck.

Sounds like it did the same thing yours did.

Glad you're OK!

Glad you are OK,my brother had a tire on a 48 Studebaker do the same thing except he was looking at the tire when it blew.

Not to make lite of your tire and close call. But ( there is always a but), after retiring from my old/ regular job, I went to work for a "farm service", sold farm chemicals and did custom spraying and spreading. Anyway the head guy was kind of ?????????. One day his wife and family drove up in a SUV. Manager came out and grabbed the air hose and proceeded to air up a 12 inch tricycle tire, still in the SUV with the wife and kids. The air line was enough pressure to do semi tires. Of course the tire blew!!

One of the hardest things to do is NOT to laugh at the boss! Darn that was LOUD!

Here is one I had this winter. Took the tires off a parts tractor aired them until round. About two weeks later the tractor was in the shop about four feet from the door. I went to go in the shop couldn't open the door, then noticed it was split and the bolt was bent. I thought someone broke in. The tire had blown and just the air damaged the door. Good thing it didn't blow while I was putting air in.

I have done hundred of tires. Be they car/truck/tractor and split rims. So far always been lucky but I also watch what I am doing and what the tire is doing. In this case it was a normal tractor rim on the tractor but the bead area wire broke and then blew partly off the rim and had I been in the way of that wire it could have slashed me bad and or broken an arm
