ok i was bush hogging on my 3000 ford tractor today and hit a little brush pile tractor bogged out and i heard like metal banging from under shifter now my pto wont work and my tractor wont go any one know what i messed up pulled side cover off. top shifter plate off all looked good from what i could see and also pulled pto shaft out and put back in.

Can you explain "won't go" a little further please.

Transmission locked up, kills the engine?

Engine runs but tractor won't move in any gear? Noises?

Tractor won't roll?

With the shifter cover off, are all shift gates lined up? That is the neutral position. If in 2 gears at once everything will be locked up. Look for broken shift forks.

tractor runs i can put shifter in any gear but it wont move take off had to be pulled back to house no noises except for when it happened.

Try removing the inspection cover, look inside with a flash light.

Have an assistant start it up, try different gears. Be very careful, tell the operator to be ready on the clutch just in case it decides to hook up.

Watch to see what is turning. If nothing is moving up front, could be the clutch hub broke, the main input shaft.

If the transmission gears are turning, look further back. Some tractors have a "weak link" designed to break to save other components.

Look further back, if the main shaft is turning, but the wheels are not, something is broken in the rear differential or an axle.

But since the PTO stopped, I'm betting it's something up front.

Might try posting on the Ford forum below for a more specific answer.

There is no cover that can be looked in other than gearshift. The only way can see clutch area is to pull fuel tank and steering gear. I am on same thinking as Steve, broke hub out of clutch. I have seen pto discs hub torn out on 3000s.

I will third shearing the center hub off the clutch plate. Does you tractor have the two stage clutch or live PTO??? IF it does IRC you have two clutch disks. I do not see how you could have shear them both. If it does not have a two stage clutch then it would just about have to be the clutch disk.

ok thanks to you all i guess i will split tractor apart and check clutch plate i just replaced all that about a month ago but you know how they make stuff in todays world it has a one clutch disk pressure plate pto dont have to be engaged for my hydrauic lift to go up which that still works
