Okay don’t mean to keep addressing my 4020
But got into an argument with a guy in which he stated that 4020 are obsolete on parts for the whole tractor meaning you can’t get engine parts trans parts differential parts etc. now knowing that this is silly I would like to hear from other people
Would must certainly make me laugh and put a smile on my face .

I'll tell you this much, last time I tried to get something for a 1020 at Deeremart,it was NLA. They said they could get it from A&I,but it might take a week. They seem to be on a mission to drive away anybody who owns anything more than ten years old.

Just got done going thru a '71 ps. The only
glitch I had was the pipe from the air
filter canister to the intake manifold. The
fabric elbow above the manifold is nla. I
had to get a 4230 pipe from a salvage yard
and cut it to fit and use the fabric hose
from a 42 @ the mainfold. Everything else
wasn't a problem. Lots of numbers that had
been changed.

I'm a service manager at a JD dealer your friend doesn't
know what he's talking about on 4020 there maybe a few but
not many nla ,might not be able to get a kit but the individual
pieces are there .

Just exactly what parts for a JD 1020 did some parts Deeremart personnel tell you were only available from A&I?
Thanks,Jim

Jim I believe he was talking about the clutch disks. He is correct on the 10-20 series many of the clutch disks are not serviced by JD any longer BUT A&I has them and JD owns A&I. The reason JD quit was they were 50% higher in cost when compared to A&I. So everyone was ordering A&I clutches anyway.

In Randy's case I think it is the dealership. Many of the chain stores do not want to fool with older tractor parts. In my area JD 3020 and 4020s are still in daily use on livestock farms. So the majority of the parts are readily available. Heck I keep a JD 4020 clutch and pressure plate on hand. I am an A&I dealer. Takes me two days to get 90% of my orders from them.

I almost never have a problem with any new generation tractor parts from Deere. I often go other places due to the price but as a general rule about all wear parts are to be had for 3020-4020's. Tom

Between Deere,A&I,a few internet sellers and a couple of salvage yards, you can build a 4020 from scratch.

Yep. I ordered it along with the bearings. I called the next morning, parts guy I ordered them from said they were there. I drove an hour to get there,no clutch. Sorry,NLA from Deere. I had Clutch Dynamics build a new one. Same day service.

Local case ih dealers excuse for that Is they?re so new we don?t stock parts for them yet . Then on the old stuff like I?ve got they say it?s to old we don?t stock parts for that

I guess you're new enough here to need the tutorial. I was all Deere back when we had dealers here, right down to my wrist watch and the mud flaps on my truck. Dealing with the far flung super stores got so intolerable that I got rid of every last tractor and piece of equipment that I had. You can only slap me in the face and kick me in the groin so many times before I stop smiling and coming back for more.

I can?t blame ya not one bit for that I hate dealers with that attitude I buy most of my stuff used and aftermarket . The local Deere dealership is no better than what you described and neither is the local case ih dealer the case dealer and the local Deere dealer used to be good until about the last 10 years . used to have a good Agco dealer but they merged with a big mega cat dealer and now they?re not any good either . Every time I go to case for the simplest part it?s always a week away with freight they don?t even stock filters for the most common equipment I usually get filters for the case stuff from carquest

Right now I?ve got a hesston baler I bought from the local case ih dealer sent them a belt to be relaced 6 weeks ago and nobody seems to know or care where the belt went .
