Cannot tell you anything about tis mower but Pencraft was what J. C. Penny company called their mowers back in the 60's.

I didn't see your last post before I posted mine. Yes, that is a Briggs, a 17 thousand series. I don't have my Briggs book handy, but I'm thinking its about a 7 hp.

After looking again at your mower, I see that the engine has a starter on it with no place for a battery or electrical system. I'm "guessing" that the engine, even though it has a fairly old cover, it's possibly got a later version on it and someone used the old cover for the pull start. I "think" your mower is even older than that.

My 2 cents worth and that's all it's worth.

I looked again at your mower and just caught pic #1...…..AUTO-DRIVE "ELECTRIC START" . I knew my advice wasn't worth 2 cents! I wonder where they put the battery.?? I also looked at the Yahoo group referenced and its looks like it's lost it steam.
