I have 1974 jd 4230
Ive had small pieces hard
white plastic in my
hydraulic filter
It is a power shift
Any idea where there coming
from

I will second draining the sump and checking the suction screen. Then if it is a small amount or just a few pieces it more than likely is n oring backup ring. They are thin white plastic that would be spiral shaped. If it is a lot then I would lean towards some thing coming in from the SCV valves from some attachment. The reason being I can not really think of anything that would break in this tractor and put a lot of plastic in the sump.

Brakes failing would be more of a gold flaky and black particles.

I have found the pull tabs off five gallon buckets in several sumps before.
