Farmall 560 new pump steering doesnt work...

Alright new problem... So I changed out the hydraulic pump on the farmall 560 to a 17gpm one, and it seemed all fine, until I tried to steer it. it almost feels like your trying to steer it when the engine is off. the new pump was 600 dollars OEM... is there too much pressure in the lines, causing the steering to leak??? or do I have to bleed out the steering lines???

***FYI: the baler lifts up 3/4 of the way now***

Thanks,
Bryce C.

Did you change BOTH pumps? Power steering pump bolts to the hydraulic pump, and also if the hydraulic pump is upgraded from 12 to 17 GPM a higher capacity filter will be needed too. Also the pump input tube seal may be out of place..

the line that goes to the power steering has little of the gasket left, can I use gasket material to make a fix, or should I buy a real replacement???

The power steering pump bolts to the main hydraulic pump. If it was working before, it's probably okay. It will have to be bolted to the new pump, however.

Not that tube. The one that sticks into the back of the hydraulic pump from the filter. If the seal isn't good, it's like trying to drink a milkshake with a hole in the side of the straw.
