roosa master inj. pump

Purchased john Deere 1020.Must advance throttle to start,then engine races and must be throttled back but will die out if throttle lever is not advanced again repeating the over rev.cycle.With my hand on the linkage at the inj. pump I can regulte rpms with a little more stability but still eratic. Lots of air in fuel return line to tank. Is this normal? roosa master jddbgfc.

Its time for a reseal. Sounds like a flex ring issue to me. Al

No that is not normal. Time to repair the pump. Time the pump before you remove it.

I'd find out why there's so much air in the return side first, air that enters any pump will upset it's operation, and pumps don't make air, it must come in on the inlet side. Pump MIGHT still need service though..
