After changing the fuel filter in my Yanmar YM2000 last fall .. it starts ... but doesn't run good. Mostly a lack of power. I can drive it .. almost in every gear but doesn't seem like it has power .
I put Sea Foam in filter and fuel .. is why it is smoking so much .. but even when I ran that down and added pure diesel .. it doesn't seem to run right . here it idles down some but generally it doesn't . it surges at times . .. as well . any advice or ideas?
Here is a video of it starting and running https://youtu.be/iLKnhG4tWQk

thanks much

Gary

Diesels will often surge and appear to be running rich just before running out of fuel. Everything here is pointing to lack of fuel. There are some filter housings that will "keep" the gasket from the old filter, so that you have two, causing the fuel to be blocked. I suggest that you retrace your filter change steps.

I am a little confused about the fuel flow setting at the fuel filter .. the lever you turn straight up or down - it runs in the DOWN position .. it also has a level - horizontal position which seems to shut the fuel off . I have always thought the level position meant it always the fuel to flow through .

I can send pics of that .. I have bleed every fitting and screw a number of times .

(quoted from post at 22:55:31 06/04/18) How are the fuel filter(s)?

Fuel filter .. is brand new .. Gary

(thx much)

Fuel tanks often get condensation when sitting partially full. The condensation can lead to a lot of crud in the fuel tank, which can plug a filter quickly. Post pics of the lever at the filter, and the bleed points.

Here is a vid after I bled #1 cyl several times ..

It would not idle down .. without dying out but now it idles way down .. and I ran it up about a 40 degree hill in high (8th out 8 gears) and it ran good - chucked like it was pulling good!!

it had not enough power last week to pull in high gear on the level ..

Still feel it is a little dirty but going to keep bleding and FRESH fuel .

It is not firing on #1 which is a very strong indication of a problem with the injector. It could help a lot if you would answer questions.

What question or questions are you referring to? I Must have missed it but will try and answer it ..
although I think I Have zeroed in on the problem .. that you suggested the injector is the problem .. so I intend to take it apart tomorrow ..
thanks so much for your help .

Your fuel tank. And your filter. Yes you changed it last fall, but did you plug it back up due to crud in the tank? Always eliminate the cheap and simple things first. Don't take care of an injector problem just to have one plugged again because the filter is not properly seated. Read this again.
