John Deere 6300 - No PTO

Hello everyone. A neighbor has a John Deere 6300 and was using it on a disk mower. Worked just fine. Fluffed some hay with a tedder and the PTO quit near the end of that process. Certainly the tedder doesn't take much power. As I understand it there is a rotary switch that electrically/hydraulically turns on the PTO???? Any ideas what might be going on? Anything a common problem? Fuse? Wiring? Switch? Thanks

Replace the PTO switch. I keep one on hand. Usually when it is the switch the PTO will run IF you hold the switch up in the engaged position. There is a magnetic "lock" inside the switch that holds it on until one of the "safety switches" trip it off. That seems to go bad about every other year for me.

Troq screw driver and a small flat screw driver. Remove the Yellow center of the control knob. It has a small slot to do this. Then remove the small E clip and washer. The knob with then pull off. Then remove the spring and other parts. There is a nut holing the switch in the panel. Take it off and replace the switch.

Had that same problem last year. Mine was blowing fuses. Switch was OK, solonoids were good. Turned out to be a sensor up under the tractor. Clutch temp or something. $15 part. Took us a few days to figure it out.
