Anyone heard from our guys down in Florida?????

Greg. It's not been bad at all just overcast all day with a few showers. I actually had more rain earlier in the week than we've had the last two days. Compared to a full blown hurricane this is nothing. Thanks for checking on us.

Same here in Crystal River, an hour north of Tampa on the gulf coast.

And make a national news story out of it; get states to declare states of emergency; and put everyone on alert.

If this 40 mph rain storm had come from the north with a cold front in December no one would even be talking about it.
 
One of my old Marine Corps buddies lives in Bradenton, just south of Tampa. He doesn't seem too excited.

I read some comments on a news article and the locals seemed to be saying, "So it's a 50 mph rain storm. We have to go to work".
 
I?m in Deep South Alabama about 14 miles from the Florida state line (in middle of the state) and about 55 miles (as the crow flies) from the Gulf. Nothing much to report here other than a few bands of very light showers, no winds yet, the radar would have you to believe otherwise.
 
The Weather Channel has just stated the ?eye? is projected to pass right over my area, maybe things will remain calm, local news stations are predicting tornadoes and flash flooding, peaceful right now, still no breeze off of it
 
On another site they have been begging for rain to get this year's crop producing. I think they got/ are getting their wish.
 
I am south of Grayrider in Florida. Middle of Walton County close to I10.
My weather station shows wind 7 mph and light rain.
