Working on neighbors 5600 and changed hydraulic fluid and filter. I can't get the pump to prime itself, it just makes a whining noise. Is their something I can do?

Did you put the oil back in? The pump is below oil level so shouldn't need to prime.

Yes it was full of fluid. But the suction pipe goes up to the filter housing and back down to the pump. The filter housing is mounted up high just below the top deck.

Wasn't impugning your skills, just had a high school co-op kid doing a fluid change on an 8000 once, and he got sidetracked by something and started tractor before re-filling rear end.
