Stephen Newell RE: Mower Opinion

Stephen, since it's dropped off the page now, I just wanted to add, that mower is the same model, but about 5-6 years newer than the one we use at the church.

It is church property, has been used by several, lets just say "less than qualified" operators, has been through several sets of blades, bent from hitting rocks and stumps, I've straightened and repaired the deck several times.

To my knowledge, and I am the only one to do any work on it that I know of, it has never thrown or had a belt replaced!

If the dealer can't give any satisfaction, maybe there is another dealer that could take a look at it while it's under warranty.

Something does not sound right.

I think the dealer just didn't wish to accommodate me and the Toro company just wanted to brush me off. I called Toro and got nowhere. I think there is some kind of design flaw with this mower. Perhaps they recently changed the way they are made and I got stuck with it. I think I'm going to have to try harder to pick up sticks or get rid of the mower and get a different brand. I don't see that as a possibility to get rid of it in the near future.

Most of the time I buy used equipment but right now I'm struggling trying to fix two tractors and I didn't want to buy something else to repair so this time I bought new. Live and learn I guess. It's getting harder and harder to buy something made right anymore. In any case now that I know what is going on I will fix it myself in the future. As fast as that happened I seriously doubt if the belt was damaged.

@Stephen Newell

I haven't kept up with this conversation you are having with this issue with the Toro, but will say, keep calling, but call higher up, and believe me someone will want to help you, especially when you comment how poor service has been.

Personally, if someone hung up on me I would call them back and tell them I plan to call the home office, and mention his name and tell him what you did, just watch him get interested in helping you, just sayin

Someone mentioned earlier that you should check to see if using the mower deck at the highest setting might be causing the problem. That sounds like good advice to me.

I don't know. What I did was walk through the area and pick up any limbs I could find. Then I was going to run the mower on it's highest setting and then look for limbs again before putting the mower down to it's lowest setting. I usually use the bush hog for that purpose but the area was small and too much stuff to maneuver around.
