I remember when I was a kid grandma always said
that lightening was attracted to things that were hot.
You had to make sure you were off the hot tractor if
lightening came cause it would get you.
As I got older I learned that metal, the tallest thing
around, and oppositely charged items
(grounded, etc) were all attractors of lightening but
never heard more about heat.
I always think of her this time of the year when I am
living in one tractor or another and last night had to
wonder if it were true. Was it just that the tractor
was tall and metal and the rest was a wives tale?
If it was, there are lots more. Never sleep under a
fan or you will get arthritis. Don?t ride your bike in
the heat or you will get polio. The list goes on.
