NRA members stop the evil killing, like the Texas church shooter. The next door neighbor shot the mass murderer with a so called evil ?R 15! Who knows how many lives he saved. Thousands of murders and robberies stopped every year because we can have guns.

Well, I'm glad that your neighbor was able to save some lives. I'm not a gun guy, to be honest I don't think I know anyone with a gun unless it was their dad's .22 rabbit gun or something like that. Something though doesn't add up when you read articles (for 2016) like the one below (and there are lots of them available to read). Something's not working despite efforts like your friend was able to pull off ..... read the article and study the chart ...... mind you it might be "fake news" but somehow I doubt it.
Gun deaths per 100,000 population in developed nations

Somehow this thread took an unexpected turn.

As for that article, many of the countries listed no longer have much (if [i:28cfbca173]any[/i:28cfbca173]) wild game to hunt. That means no hunters. A few of the countries, there are very few people who can afford to buy such a gun.

In England, there is virtually no game left out there that isn't better taken by using a trap. However, in their effort to stop crime, they have now began a new law to make certain knives illegal to ship (not sure about to own). ...Not machetes or swords, but a normal "hunting" or "skinning" knife.

This reinforces to me that it isn't the "tool used" that is the problem, but the people who wield the tool. But then, there's a whole lot more to the overall drama than these few things.

The gun control act of 1968 was passed in response to the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. After it's passage, the murder rate sky rocketed. Florida was the first state to pass a comprehensive concealed carry law. After it was passed, their murder rate dropped. By your reckoning, it should have risen.
As gun laws have been rolled back, the murder rates in those states has dropped. I do not know of any exceptions. Our high per-capita is skewered by the high rates in gun control enclaves like Chicago and Baltimore where law abiding citizens are disarmed thus becoming helpless victims for the criminals.
You also need to ask if SeeBS differentiates between homicides by the police, DGU's, gang war killings and ionocent victims of criminals.
As to those areas with high murder rates, a large part of the problem is homes with out fathers. If we look at them, we see what a matriarchal society would look like. Moms are long on love but short on discipline. Did you ever get told "just wait until your father gets home?" Come to think of it, those moms aint real long on love since they raise their children in a manner that destines them for failure.

I won't dispute your stats but the final numbers are what they are unfortunately. There are a disproportionate number of gun deaths in one of the world's most advanced nations, to me that is disturbing whatever the reason. Dissecting and rationalizing can be done on any controversial topic of course, up here in Alberta we are constantly being reminded from all corners of the globe that our tar sands oil is "dirty" (for a number of reasons) ...... something that enrages most Albertans because it is the basis of our economy. And to most of us, anyone that says those things are wrong and we can prove that it isn't as dirty as they say when we crunch the numbers we want to crunch. I shouldn't have poked the bear on this with my snide reply about the NRA

I didn't consider it an attack on the NRA. If I had thought about it, I would have asked if there is a study showing how many murders are committed by members of the NRA/ GOA. I seriously doubt that any of the killers in our largest demographic responsible for the crimes are NRA members. heck, I'd bet you lunch that very few of them were even NRA trained.
Look at your mother country, England. They are now banning simple knives because of the violence epidemic there. The problem is not the tool they chose for the crimes, but rather the brain that led them to become criminals. Children that do not know their Father do not fear his just anger.
