relief valves

Can anyone give me an idea of what a "stuck" relief valve feels like when you're taking it apart? Like how difficult would it be to pull out the piston? Thanks. Mark

A relief valve should be free to move easily in its bore. A spring, or other control pressure should hold it closed. At any time it is difficult to move, it is stuck/sticking and needing help. They stick open reducing pressure, and stick closed or partially closed creating excessive pressure. Jim
