I have 2 of them. One is just like that one but missing the bar. The other is a bit different and run up till the tree I was cutting with it spun and fell up hill and a limb hit the carb and broke it off

When I was a youngster one similar to that with a gear drive was the first one dad bought and the first one I used.

A friend gave me the same DB a few years ago. Got it running but am terrified to use it - open clutch/sprocket, no chain brake, heavy as h*ll and LOUD.

I hang on to it just as a curiosity...

them old saws are heavy but they had more power -- My brother has a homelight in his collection it is darn heavy -- so He got it running and You could not run it without ear plugs and muffs overtop of that --made your body shake -- You could plant that thing on a 16 inch log-put the teeth in and pull up as hard as Ya could and not kill the thing -- I got a back ache thinking about that monster --- !!

My Dad had a Homelite C7. Not as big or bulky as the DB shown. As for how tough older saws were his standard practice was to get up in the tree do the trimming or cutting then just drop the saw back down. I saw him drop it many times from 20 feet plus. When they came out with the newer lighter saws made with a lot of plastic he wondered why they would build one so flimsy. Lol.
