can you give me an idea of value

Anybody got a rough idea of value for an old Farmall H that ran when parked?

We don't have any other details than that... no pics either. We just talked to someone who said that a guy has a non-running H, that ran when parked - that he might be willing to sell. We don't even know if the engine is stuck or not.

But we have not been to an auction for several years - so my husband just wanted to at least get a rough idea of its value, in case he goes to talk to the owner.

Thanks if you can help.

I'd say it depends on the condition of the rear tires. I gave $200 for a 1950 that was complete but the engine was stuck. Rears are fair but mismatched. I'd say from $200-500 depending if the motor is stuck or not and if the rears are serviceable.

Or how bad you want it! lol Let us know what you find when looking it over.

I have sold two in the last 6 months. Both running, fair rubber. Had to try hard to get $600 and $700. respectively. They are worth just a little more if nice but not running, with poor rubber or rims, less then $500 at best.

Condition of the rear tires will matter.

$400-600 if sitting up on air.

Running, would be $800-1000, probably closer to the 800.

Scrap price over the scales it would be $400 or more. Machinery right now like a old manure spreader with wood on it was told today $210 per ton and it would only be less than 200# less than 2 ton and tractor shoyld be worth more over scales than a manure spreader with wood on it. Don't know where you get that worth $200 from, scrap price would be double or more.

Scrap at $140.00 per ton. Tractor will weigh less than 2 ton. Tires will dictate above that. Hope it is rusty.

They are telling you right $200.00 to $300.00 non running. It would need to have real good rears on it to be worth much more than that.

A running H with new rear rubber sold this past weekend for 1,000. I was actually surprised that they got that much.

How can it be worth LESS THAN THE SCRAP dealer would give? That I do not understand. Scrap dealer offer should be as low as value would be.

The thing about scrap price is you don't make a phone call and sit back while they come and get it and hand you the cash.

Not too many people that are going to waste a day and fuel to pick up a machine then haul it to a scrap yard just to break even when they get paid the ??? $ per ton scrap is worth that day.
