John Deere H

Need a lot more info for us to be able to help you help your self.

Mag or distributor?? What has been done to it like say a 12 volt conversion or maybe rewired etc. ??

If it has a magneto, there's no ignition switch or "kill" switch located by the operator, there should be a little grounding tab "switch" on the magneto, or at least and insulated stud sticking out of the magneto that can be grounded with a screwdriver to "kill" it.

Or, shut the gas off and let it run out of gas and stop.

Or, slow it to the slowest idle and "kill" it by engaging the clutch in the highest gear while holding the brakes.

Sounds like it is like my 1935 JD B and what I do to shut it off is shut the gas off. With no wiring other then the plug wires if your lucky you will have a mag kill tab on the mag that you can push to shut it down but either way I would do it by shutting off the gas at the tank

The H only ever had a magneto and never to my knowledge did JD put a kill switch on them. The idea was to shut of the fuel and run it out. That's fine if you're running distillates so the carb is emptied for gas on the next start.
