Almost ready to start plowing

Picked up this plow for the 60 & 70 last week. Time to start plowing now.

What size plow is it - I have the same model, 14" and a lot less paint. Does it have the Syracuse bottoms. I had to convert mine to newer parts as I have too many large rocks that was breaking plow points.

Better throw some weights on your tractor, unless there's liquid in the rears. Like 3 or 4 per side.

I am not sure what bottoms are on it. How can I tell ? I have not measured it yet but believe it to be 14". The wear parts are not great but good enough to take out and plow a couple acres a year just for fun.

The Syracuse bottoms have an eye bolt that holds the plow point on the plow. The newer ones bolt on - can't remember if its 3 bolts or 4. They have a different shape too.

nice looking setup jdman, now your going to have to hit some plowing matches this summer. Whats all that red paint in the background behind the jd. ??

I'd find a muffler to put on that 70. My ears still ring from the time I spent on those danged 2-cylinder
tractors as a kid, And they had mufflers. Maybe get ear plugs and noise cancelling headphones too.

Absolutely put a muffler on it, more for
your neighbors than for you if you wear
head phones. They bark like mad under a
load. You might not need weights for what
little plowing you will do. Those two
bangers are heavy in the rear.

Nice looking rig - that should be fun. We have a two bottom with the syracuse points (I think they call them slow speed), but we have a
hill farm in NY, so we have too many rocks for them. I'd love to find somebody that would want to swap slow speed for high speed bottoms
