Head bolt torque

My manual says to torque the head bolts on my MM M602 to 170-175 pounds. That strikes me as quite a bit of torque for a 5/8 inch bolt. Need I be concerned about snapping one off?

Look up common torque specs.

You do say 5/8 which is a fairly serious bolt when you consider torque values for wheels and main bearings.

looks good to me for a grade 8 course thread bolt. she will take more yet before snapping.

One thing that is puzzling to me is the specs for the MM M5 say torque to 110, and it is the same 336 ci engine as the M602. Anyone know why the same engine would have different torque specs merely because it was n a different model?
