Long 445 issue

First off I am a complete novice at doing any kind of tractor maintenance.

I have a 445 that I purchased cheap recently flushed all fluids because they were milky, took out the pilot valve and polished that up and now the 3 or hitch works great.
I was plowing today and tractor done good, however upon finishing the tractor is very laggy on acceleration going forward. Reverse is fine 2nd gear is fine 3rd takes about a minute to build speed and 4th 5th and 6th will die before it allows enough speed. I know it's vague but have no clue about it. Clutch works as it should PTO still operates as it should as well

I will check that first thing tomorrow. Didn't really notice if there was or not while limping it back to the shed. If it does turn out to be a clutch slipping is there way to adjust it or is that gonna be something where I will need to break it down and replace parts?

Before breaking tractor apart for clutch repair I suggest checking for
proper fuel flow to engine. Check the tank for trash, strainer in lift pump
for trash. If dirty change the fuel filters.

wfugate86 welcome to YT. The 1? of free play suggested by vapet is the only adjustment for the clutch. If when you say in 4-6 gears ...it will die...I take it to mean the engine stops or slows way down in rpm. If so I would also suggest changing the fuel filters first. If the clutch is in reasonable condition if you put it in 6th gear with the engine at 1200 rpm or so..a fast idle.. and quickly let out the clutch on level ground the engine should die or almost as the tractor comes up to speed. If the engine continues at about the same rpm and the tractor slowly gains speed then the clutch is suspect.
