So how many acres of taters you gonna plant? lol

My dad dropped in an acre of taters one time. Just once. We had wagon loads. I still to this day don't know what he was thinking. It took me all day with a Troy Built Horse tiller in high range to run down the rows. I can still see the trailer mounded up with spuds. He sold them for next to nothing at the flea market that fall. Guess he just wanted to feed the masses that year!

People are paying 12$ for fifty pounds in the fall
around here if you take them south they?ll pay 20$
And they can?t buy em fast enough . The organic
thing hasn?t really kicked in around here , to many
people that know farmers and that farm themselves
so not many have bought into the idea . But I bet if
you could sell non gmo organic potatoes to the
granola crunchers they?d pay 50$ all day long and
on a small scale you could probably keep the
disease and bugs and weeds out of em

Probably plant 50 pounds of potatoes and a pound and a half
of sweet corn. It?s pretty much all given away to a nonprofit
food pantry. There is about an acre that I keep worked up and
it?s all irrigated.

How far does 50 lbs of potatoes go in relation to length of rows and number of rows, and what spacing between seed potatoes? I am toying with planting this year and just getting an idea of how much to work up and amount of seed potatoes to buy.

Last year I planted 30 pounds and got three 100 foot long rows. Probably could've got one more if I had wanted to. I planted 36 inch on center.

I see your map dot shows you in Oregon fairly close to the ocean. I?m originally from Kansas in that area it is preferred to plow in fall and let the freeze and thaw cycles mellow or soften the generally slabby or cloddy soil. Plowing in spring especially a garden is asking for trouble there. More clay in the soil there I suppose. Looks good I hope your crop turns out well.
