Rotery scye MC or others

What company made rotary scyes besides MC? Think I want one for CRP mowing. What is general opinion of the machines for dry and wet stem weeds? What area of Midwest would have used machines. There were very few close.

New Idea Cut-Ditioner was another one. I liked the paddles batter on the New Idea with our stony ground here in Michigan. The MC had bolt on paddles. If you hit something, you were likely to break the bolts and loose one. The New Idea was a one piece that was just held on by the shaft that went through it. I understand that the bolt on was easier to change, but more likely to be lost in a collision with a rock.

I have an older Mathews. I used it to cut many pick acres back in the 70's. I sharpened the paddles and slowed down. You can take a ragged field and make it look very good. They are a little hard on dry hay. You want it to have some mixture in the stems if you are going to bale behind it. If you don't it will pulverize everything and you will get nothing.

I have a NI Cutditioner,MC Rotary Scythe that's for cutting hay and a MC Rotary Scythe that follows behind all are 7ft.The MC Scythe for hay is the best of the lot but if you want to turn good hay into to straw they will all do the job.Wish you were closer to VA I'd make you a deal. I bought them all cheap and would send them down the road the same way.

I had one for hay, finally had to quit using it because of the molehills- it would distribute the dirt through the hay, and hay with dirt is rough on horses. Sure cut well, though, and would be fine for CRP.
