Hey! My 6 year old son just bought his first tractor. It is a Economy Jim dandy and the guy who sold it to us had no information about it. Anyone know how to decode the serial number or where I can go for information on them?? Thank you!

I have one of those and 3 Power King tractors. I gave a Jim Dandy to my grandson about 5 years ago. [email protected]. Very rugged tractors. Don't use the steering column to pull yourself ujp on the tractor.

From "Vintage Garden Tractors 2nd Edition": They were made by Engineering Products Company of Waukesha, Wisconsin. Company was started in 1940 and produced 50 units the first year. They used a Crosley automobile clutch and 3 speed transmission, and a Ford driveshaft and differential. It's 'Special' model was tested at U of Neb. in 1952, test #483.

I have seen quite a few around here, usually the larger ones with Wisconsin 2-cyl. engines.

Hi EPCO started in 1946 in Waukesha, Wis the first tractor has SN 101 ending SN for 1946 is 123, EPCO never offered a tractor with the 2 cylinder Wis engines they did experiment with one in 1953 it was called a Farm King there are a number of custom built Power Kings with the 2 cylinder Wis there is one for sale on e bay now b ut not selling very fast has been relisted a number of time.
The transmission used is a Warner T92 (just happens to be the transmission used in the Crosley car) The all metal ones were built from 1946 thur 1984 after that they had fiberglass hoods and fender pans also refered to as plastic kings
