I dunno why I put myself through this every day.....these photos just make me sad to see all this neglected iron....

Another Fordson.

The thing back of the engine without a cap is the "airwasher", or an air cleaner that used water to trap dust. When the tractor was used in the field every day, it was a daily chore to clean the water and mud out of it and fill with fresh water.

Hi, it looks like it was running when parked!
Those engine blocks look so plane and simple. I
would like to have it actually. What for, I don't
know! Ed Will Oliver BC

ditto dashshund, I love seeing all the old iron but seeing them just sitting rotting into the ground like that old girl, parked where it was shut off 60/70 years ago, I guess some people just don't care.

I like the old iron pictures. Reminds me of my younger days when
every pasture and farm yard had an old tractor. Today it's a
rare sight to see an old tractor sitting in a pasture.

I don't think with even a collective effort from all of us that there is enough time or money
to save all of the orphaned rust that is out there.

You know, I'm almost 70 and I feel the same way. Right now in the shed I have the 68 Mustang I bought in September of '68 and that's what my Bride of 42 years went on our honeymoon with. I'm pretty sure that if I put in a battery and started 'winding' the engine, she'd come back to Life. Now THAT is the ultimate complement, that you cared enough to save an older piece of equipment that had no voice.

sad but true bmack, all we can do is get our old iron fixed up and hopefully move it along to someone who can use it when we are done with it, keep it out of the hands of those evil scrappers
