Carb issues...

I have a Briggs 11hp that only runs if you leave the air cleaner cover off and the fuel valve half closed If you don't it floods itself out. It is sending WAY TOO MUCH fuel through carb. So before I tear into it. What do you guys think sticky float and valve or bad gasket and diaphram?

Could be simple, gummed up float/needle/seat.

If that doesn't fix it, and this is a fairly new engine, last 20 years or so, you can usually find replacement carbs on Ebay for really reasonable prices.

Neadle and seat leaking by. Make sure you check the oil and make sure it is not over full with gas.

2X what Steve says. I was about to order a $23.00 kit then I saw that the whole carb was $25.00

(quoted from post at 08:01:51 04/26/18) Best guesses:

Gas in float if it is a brass float.

Soaked float if a Styrofoam one.

Needle and seat leaking.

I am not sure that those are the best three. How about a bent float rubbing on the side of the chamber?
