Solar power.......on pond.

I apologize first- for not being tractor related...I guess it could be. I posted this a year ago and had alot of discussion. I know there's alot of you that have knowledge on this. I just need to pump 3-4 gal/minute in my pond...just to add water as needed.
I dont need to pump 24/7...just during the day. Ebay has 24v kits with two panels- any of you know if these would work for what I need? Thanks for the help.

What is the watt output of the panels you are talking about and what volt/amps/watts does the pump draw? I?m strictly guessing here but unless your panels are 10ft by 10ft or else very spendy state of the art I will doubt that you can pump water at that GPM for more than 15 min a day. Also that will also require some type of power storage battery. Now we will see what the brain trust says.

I would want to stay away from storage if possible. 3-4 GPM is going to take some wattage, and thus a fairly big array. You need to factor in the head as well. you need to just settle on a pump and then how many square feet of panel to power the pump.

If I read right- the kits on Ebay are supporting 3-4 GPM with 2 100watt panels....not large size....with a controller.

Do you already have a pump that you are using? Where are you pump from? Are you having to pump the water up hill?

Thanks for posting; I need simple advice; I have a well- I just need to know which "kit" to buy...I can install kit. They are on Ebay but dont have all the hardware in kits...can you help? Thanks

Banjoman, yes all you need is simple advice, but what you seem to keep missing is that people here know that you also want correct advice. No one can recommend a water pump nor how much power it needs without knowing the "head", the elevation that the water has to be pumped from the depth of the water in the well.

Yes - I agree; the sites say 2 100w panels; no battery needed. But where are you all buying the kits please? Thanks.

(quoted from post at 08:51:38 04/27/18) Im sure I have stated; it is 60' to water....well is 30' from my pond. Thanks.

Maybe you did....................last year in the previous discussion.

We are not going to go searching the previous thread.

So with a new thread about the same thing, you now have to re-post the pertinent info to get some meaningful feedback.

Might have been better to resurrect the old thread.

First, we have to figure out how large a pump and motor you need based on the vertical distance the water is being lifted. How far down in the well is the pump going to be installed? Do you still have to pump up hill from the well to the pond?
