Spray chain lube is really sticky, should stay where it lands.

2X aerosol chain lube. It comes out thin and spreads, then sets up and stays there.

You might want to try 5th wheel grease for semi tractors. I think some makers offer it in aerosol cans.

There is a special chain lube for open gears. I bought a case many years ago to use on the drive gears of our feed grinder. It is much more sticky than regular chain lube. Don't remember the brand and I used the last can about a year ago. Tom

A lot depends on whats around the open gears if its clean then a lube is good if its a lot dust and dirt flying around then you're better off with nothing to make particles stick to the gears.

I use aerosol cans of open gear lube as fifth wheel grease on the semi.
