Bucket hay spear

How is the best way to mount a bucket
hay spear? Ive tried several different
ways.
Ive got one i use occasionally it beats
having to change bucket to spear just
to move a roll of hay. It was alot
cheaper than a spear for the loader
also.
Only problem is that it makes it hard
to see what you are doing cuz of the
bucket
Thanks

I guess if your loader doesn?t have a quick attach bucket, then one of these spears will work but, years ago when I had one, I found it did damage the bucket. The weight of the bales bent the floor of the bucket. If you have only a few bales 100 or less, guess it could be ok. But I would go get a quick plate, and a bale spear , then you can also use othe attachments on the loader.

Don't want to be a smart adze, but there is no good way because the bale is too forward and is too hard on front end

I have a spear that slides on the lip of the bucket and a chain wraps around the back of the bucket, then over top and then it has a turnbuckle to tighten it up.Quick to put on and off and the chain
takes some pressure off the lip. They usually go for around $100 at auctions.

Those that slip over the cutting edge look easy. Wish I had some pictures of the one I did but I can?t find any. I made brackets on the cross arm of a 3pt mover welded them on where they match up with two cutting edge bolts. Then welded 1 1/2? steel pipe couplers on the inside top of the bucket ( needed 1 1/2? to get the top link ears out far enough) had some bushing made that get the couplers down to 3/4? pin. Take two bolts out pin the top reinstall the bolts through the brackets and good to go in under a minute with a cordless impact and I take it on and off enough the bolts never rust together and I can still use it on the 3pt if I need an extra one

We have both one that slips over the bottom lip of the bucket with a chain around the back and a rachet binder on the chain. Thn sockets on an old forklift frame to fit the pins on the loader arms.We use it for summer work and the bucket during the winter.

When I built my spear for the bucket I have the bucket on 45 degrees with spear straight to get it closer to front end.

I have done a couple of them & they are an OK 'band-aid'. Similar to some of those described. But, if I'm going into hay season, the in the bucket approach is really not at all what I like. Good at other times to put out a few bales when I still expect to need the bucket for other purposes. Vision, tearing up other bales with bucket edges, more out front load, etc.
