Trailer brake parts

Where is the best place to get them? I see prices all over the place and it seems I can buy a complete kit much for not much more than it would cost to change the parts I need..
 
I get mine through either Redneck trailer
supplies or Quality Trailer, depending on
what they are. If you tell me what you want
I can order them through my account and
direct ship them to you if you don't have a
store close by. Depending on just what you
have it can be cheaper than online.

Thanks Jon. Doesn't look like I have one close to me. I'm sure I can find parts locally but I find their prices are usually about twice what I find online. At this point I don't know if I will replace everything or just what I need. I will post some pics. They're 12x2 wet bath.

Fred..thanks for the input. I use to like etrailer until they would not stand behind a defective brake controller.

I can't imagine Etrailer not standing be hide a brake controller.

You talking about new or 10 years later.
 
Less than a year old. I complained to them several times. Never worked right out of the box. Their reply was that I must've installed it wrong. I will not use them again.
 

Looking at my numbers on the backing plate theye 6k brakes. Right now I'm trying to see what the difference is between 6k,7k and 8k. I have oil bath and the seals need replaced too.
 
I hope you find the parts you need. But you do not buy local because you can buy parts for half price online then are disappointed the
online retailer will not stand behind parts like your local guy probably would have, that makes no sense to me. I buy a lot of stuff online
but will never assume they will be warrantied like buying local. Your warranty was buying them for half price.

5200,6000,7000 are the same 12x2 brake, the 7k just have a stronger magnet. You can put the 7k brake on the other axles for better braking. 8k axles get real spendy and will have either 12x3 1/2 or 12 1/4x 3 3/8 brakes. Make sure you get the right ones there.

For the leaking hubs I usually just get rid of the oil and grease them. I've done this on many trailers with up to 10k axles and never had an issue. Just use good quality white wheel bearing grease and DO NOT fill the hub. If you do that you can use your current seals if they look ok. If not I can get those too. I may even have 4 in my shop I could send you.

If you want to use my account at redneck and have the parts direct shipped it is ok with me, and I won't charge anything. I'll set up the order and then you can call them direct with a card number to pay it. I can get an exact price once I know exactly what you need, but 5,6,7k brakes are in the $50.00/wheel range.

That is very generous of you Jon. I will let you know. I'm heading to a local place to see what they offer. Thank you for the info as well. I would like more braking power. I will think about using grease.

We have a six robblees in Eugene. I have got parts there before but they're alot higher. Tried a steel supplier in town that had them for $66 per wheel. I can get them half that online and they wouldn't budge on their price.
Trying to find out the difference between the k23 106 and k23 801 now. I can get all 4 for $128.

I ended up buying 2 sets from Southwest wheel for $126 and seals from East marine. Would have rather bought straight from Dexter but they were more money. Thank you for all your input.
