What constitutes a looser?

I'm on my way to work this morning and see a car on the shoulder and a woman walking away with a gas can. My gas gage in my car don't work so I carry a gallon can of gas, because I only want to walk once because I forgot to watch my miles. Lol. Anyway, I stop and tell the woman I'll give her my gas. She is very greatful and appreciative. What po'd me was when I got to the car with the gas, there was her "boyfriend" in the passenger seat with his seat tilted back pretending to sleep. He never got out of the car or said thank you or anything. What kinda looser sits in a car and let's a woman walk off with a gas can? As I was pouring the gas I was getting madder and madder about that, and when I was done I told her she needed a new friend.
 
That is something I never understood. Woman will go with slobs, bad boys, bums, leaches, listen to gal2 pals, etc. NOTHING but trouble. What in the world is wrong with their brains?
 
Ahh people. The problem science has no solution for. Well, they came in all makes n models. Just so hard to know what the heck their back story is. Maybe the dude is her mentally handicapped brother? Without knowing it is hard to judge. But yeah, if he was alert and talking normally and just being an embarrassed ineffective person in the situation, he could stand to learn. You did a good thing to help her out though. Keeps you a good person.
 
Maybe he wasn't pretending. Maybe he was drugged out of what little mind he had left! Sadly, because of encountering similar situations, I'm not as helpful as I once was.
 
If the guy wants to pretend to be asleep and not help out, ya, he?s not a looser, he?s a loser.....big difference in the two words.
 
Sigh, it happens to guys too. In the 80s I dated an absolutely stunning girl. Looked like Barbara Carrera. Spoiled, entitled, whiny, immature little snot. She constantly complained about getting the best table in a restaurant, getting her car cleaned just right, who was at what party, who was invited, etc. It took me more than six months to realize I was being played by someone who only knew how to take, and never give. After six months she decided that I should start 'helping' her out with her rent, even though we both had our own place. Oye, what a body, but what a controlling minx. Glad she's gone.
 
I've never understood it, but there are women out there who just cannot resist a dirtball or douchebag.

I dunno, maybe it's the female equivalent of guys buying "project" cars, tractors, whatever. They get satisfaction out of TRYING to fix something that they know at best will be imperfect, but probably will never work at all. They just HAVE to try to make it work.

Guys, tell your daughters this: When it comes to guys, you won't listen to your parents, so listen and WATCH how your friends react to him. If they say he's a dirtball or if their body language says they'd love for him to get gone, then dump his loser butt.

Women are rarely wrong about dirtball guys. HOW many times have I heard it said by a woman that they TOLD another woman the guy was dirt. And what do you know? He was.

So very true, I actually had the pleasure of being married to a lovely lady like that for a short period of time, cost a ton of cash to get her out the
door, but money well spent.
 
wellllll, I guess neither of them were losers, you gave her a lift back to the car, gave them a gallon of gas, so i'd say everything worked in there favor. sounds like they had the perfect plan.
 
I would guess that the boyfriend treats her like her dad treated her mother. Her walking to get gas was normal.
 
He's lucky they didn't pull a gun on him and rob him too ! Sorry that is just the way it is anymore. You can't be too careful.
 
Seen that many, many times. A woman is more likely to get help then a man is. Men fall for that all the time and well you fell for it. LOL
 
C'mon you guys, maybe he had a broken leg. Or even a cardiac arrest. Maybe he had passed out from pushing the car for 5 miles before she went for gas. Maybe she drugged him and strapped him in with his seat belt. Maybe he made a $20 bet with her that he could sit there and let that happen without saying one word. Maybe the guy was dead and she was on the way to the undertakers. Until the full story comes out, all of us have to step back and be more humanitarian. Jon never did finish the story. What did she say to you Jon after you told her she needed a new friend?
 
Going through that with our daughter...

She's chosen to live in poverty with an unemployed bum, mooching off his disabled dad.

None of this makes any sense, she was raised better.

Can't say this is generational curse, she's brought all this on her self. Sad thing is there is an 8 month old baby caught in the middle of this.

The Famous Grouse posted below about girls should take the advise of their friends. Well, all her friends tried to warn her about this idiot. His response, ban the friends from visiting or communicating with her! She just goes right along with it, like he can do no wrong.

Hopefully this is winding down. She came home Friday, thinks she is just going to be here for a couple weeks, but I think there is more to the story. No way to get a straight answer out of either of them.

I just keep on praying...

I hate to say this but it sounds like she is in an abusive situation that she doesn't understand or doesn't know how to get out of.
Often times the abuser will attempt to isolate their victim; keeping friends and family away or not allowing communication or only "supervised" communication where she can't speak freely.
To keep the victim in the relationship the abuser will often threaten the life of the victim or of a victim's loved one. Or they will threaten suicide if they leave.
Pay close attention to the situation as your daughter may be in serious danger.

People that can’t spell “loser”????
 
Stories like this make me so proud of my daughter who:

1) is completing her Civil Engineer degree in May,

2)has accepted a job from a large engineering company in St. Louis making a little more starting out then I'm making right now after 19 years as an Environmental Consultant AND

3) she has a boyfriend of three years who has started his PhD in aerospace engineering plus will be an intern for NASA this summer. He is very good to and for her. I also like him as my own son.

I'm very blessed. Not every 20 something male is a loser but it seems there are too many. Maybe they stick out more, lol.
 
I wished somebody could explain this to us again.
Busflyer's post looks like a bunch of chicken scratching here on classic view but looks ok on modern view.
What's up with that? We're seeing more of this all the time and it will likely get worse.

I've also mentioned before, that I'm also starting to have problems with people's pictures posting.
One guy might post 8 or 9 pictures and I can see them all, the next guy will post one and it won't download.
Sometimes it will start to and I can see the top half of the pic then it blinks out and all I get is the little box.
So what's up with that? I've made no changes on my end. Why after all these years am I having trouble seeing the
pictures people post here on the YT website?

Wife and I were on the way to church one Sunday morning, and a nice local girl that we know was wrenching the lugnuts off of a flat tire while her boyfriend stood and watched her. It made my blood boil, but it later dawned on me that the boy was raised that way. His dad isn't worth shooting either. The fruit doesn't fall very far from the tree.
 
It is possible she has a history of not maintaining the car/ fuel level, had argument #38 about this, and he said that's it, you deal with it, I'm tired of bailing you out of this silly deal yet again.

Or, she is a liberated woman and will not tolerate someone opening a door or getting gas for her.

But, probably he's a loser.

At our house, we have a dog that will determine within seconds of meeting the daughter's friends whether they are good or not. She hasn't been wrong yet but it may take the girls years to figure it out.

The gibberish characters stem (usually) from a mistranslation of certain characters between different computer systems (or the software running on them). Google the terms ASCII & UTF character sets for a detailed description of how computers represent characters internally. Most translate the common characters like letters & numbers just fine, but out in the "weeds" of nonprintable characters and symbols like #$)(_-+@*$"', etc, there can be wrong translations.

The symptom of you mentioning Classic vs Modern points out those two software systems (most likely) interpret the same data differently - thus, display it differently.

This problem wouldn't be related to pictures not loading. Photobucket, for example, (a popular place people have loaded pictures for years) recently cracked down on 3rd party hosting (or displaying of pictures) since they don't want to have the burden of storing everyone's pictures, if you aren't going to their website and looking at them there - where they can sell ads and make money off the viewing of the ads. So far, I haven't figured out exactly how/why/when a given account gets restricted with them, but it appears to be traffic related.

In some ways, the increasing difficulty of seeing pictures, as you asked, is coming from the taming of the Wild West Internet. Everyone is putting up more barbed-wire fences around their free services trying to figure out more ways of squeezing a dollar.

I do IT for a living and usually just come to ytmag to hang out and relax. Back to relaxing now... ha ha...

Ya know, maybe you're right. Maybe she just murdered the guy and giving her gas to complete the getaway will make Jon F an accessory.
 
My Mom warned me about loose women, so far I haven't been able to find any.. Sorry to pick on your spell checker Jon, but I know you're tough and I couldn't help it.
 
Jon really very simple the fact is she's the loser .... i do not feel sorry for her one bit she will make a great enabler later in life...
 
It is a phenomenon that defies logic, why women saddle themselves with trash that have no intention of ever trying to get ahead or even support themselves. My Wife worked in a piecemeal sewing factory when I met her and up until our second child was born, she knew what making a living was all about and I am pretty sure if I had of been a bum she wouldn't have give me the time of day. A lot has changed in 40 years.
 
Hopefully she'll heed your words but probably not. One of my daughters was the type that always had some guy or other sniffing around with every summer job or while in college. Wife and I would express our concerns but she always defended them. After a few she finally told us "Mom, Dad, you were right about every one of them. From now on I'll just let you pick them."
 
i had just returned home from my stint in the service and met this young lady that lived in apt. building i did.
we were on a date had a great time and were heading back when i got a flat tire..
made mention to my date about getting all filthy changing that tire

she suggested to me to walk behind the car aways and climb up the berm and hide behind that tree [this girl was fast on her feet]
i'm up there sitting down she gets out and it was like a traffic jam had more help than she needed tire got changed she shooed the fella on his way and i got back in the car.
i often think about her i hope she made out ok in life...

I always wondered why I sometimes see question marks in lieu of apostrophes on some posts. Maybe has something to do with this. For what it’s worth, I see these using modern view.
 
That reminds me of a scene in an old movie where Clark Gable tries to show Claudette Colbert how to hitch hike, "It Happened One Night" 1934.

Appearances can be deceiving, most people will not offer the same level of help to some guy in trouble as they will offer to a female in distress. Would you have given the guy your gas for free and poured it into his tank for him or would you have simply given him a lift to the closest filling station? Sending her out all alone to flag down help may have been a smart move on that couples part.
 

If you see me standing by when some woman is changing a tire it's because I am trying to help her learn to change a tire so she won't be left with a problem if she has a flat when no one else is around. Example: Daughter and male classmate in college needed to run an errand one afternoon, they went in his car. He said he had a tire leak and hoped it would stay up until they got back and he could get it fixed. Her comment: "You mean your daddy didn't make you show that you could change a tire before you left the yard?"

The character thing you wouldn't think would be a problem this day and age as everything should be universal but evidently not.

As far as the pictures go... sounds like the pics just can't make it through all the barb wire and get tangled up?
Sometimes if I really want to see the pics, I can keep hitting the refresh button about 3 or 4 times and they might post
about 50% of the time. Otherwise I hit refresh once and if they won't pop up, I just read the text and move on.
So much for our advanced technology now days.
 
I should add that the pictures always pop up on my smart phone.
Its the laptop that causes all the trouble.

lol, I hope not but if he is - good for him because his PhD education is being paid for through scholarships on someone else's dime. To fly in space, would you want someone with the minimum or an advanced degree?

He working on a NASA satellite project currently, doing coding to steer it. Real world work, well sort of, more like out of this world but well above my knowledge level. And he knows how to cook a meal, I'll pass final judgment on him at a later date. :lol:
 
Laugh if you will,but a guy got beat up pretty bad out on the bypass here a few years ago that way. There was a gal pulled off to the side. When he stopped to see if she needed help,some guys jumped him.
 
My wife had a dog like that before we got married. A little bit of hamburger between my index finger and thumb made him my buddy. Been married 53 years.
 
Seen this many times in my wifes profession(she's an RN). Nurses seem to pick losers and try to "cure" them. I call it "nursey syndrome", bums are bums and don't seem to ever change. Not all, but a percentage. I don't know why she picked a hard headed old boy like me.
 

Well, we are a long way from the original thread topic, but in general pictures are much ?heavier? than text or numbers. Depending on a pictures quality it can be as much data as several hundred or thousands of pages of text.

So a slow connection can also affect pics and especially video from loading.

Locally, we?ve had a lot of trouble with internet providers beginning to throttle or slow down internet connections once you?ve used a certain amount of data.

Depending on how old your laptop versus phone is, it may also just be related to the computational horsepower in each one. A hot new smart phone can equal or exceed an older laptop in power.

Anyway, a lot of variables...

happened to a friend; lady had a flat in the pouring rain at a gas station. She was out in the rain struggling to change a flat. Old helpful went to her rescue, did the job, then looked up to see her boyfriend sitting in the truck. Friend was furious. But looks deceive! She was known to be a class A jerk in all she did, really wasn't going anywhere & boyfriend was simply waiting for rain to stop.

Sadly losers are a dime a dozen and occur in many walks of life.
 
Equality of the sexes! Why should the guy have to go get gas out of some outdated notion of "chivalry?" She's got two perfectly good legs and is physically capable of carrying 8lbs, so why not her? Women have been screaming for equal rights for centuries. Fair is fair.

For all you know the "boyfriend" just got off a 16-hour shift and is beyond exhausted.

Easy to make assumptions and make fun when you only know 10% of the story.
 

I find it amazing the number of women driving around some slacker dude. They must have a number of DUI convictions or lost their license for some other reason to have to have their wife/girl friend drive them around. Could be lazy, maybe there is a physical handicap keeping the guy from driving, I had that when I had eye surgery recently, but she wanted me to get back in the driver seat, as I did.

because women have this need to "fix" the man...its in their nature to do this. Some wake up and reject their losers to get someone who is real. and near where i grew up was a real sad case that I cannot relate...just to say he is in jail for life for infanticide.

@ Pete in MD, I'm hoping with the notes he took he might fuel the car up before running into this situation again. This is giving him the benefit of the doubt, and a long shot at that. I agree with the many comments on this guy being a bum and wanting "everyone else" to do the work but him. But I also agree with the many comments, that maybe we don't have the full story and we shouldn't judge.
