After another weekend of tossing cinder blocks and roof panels, my lower back is trashed.
Have any of you used those black velcro belts from HD? They seem like a pain in the a55 to keep putting on and off each time i get off the tractor.
Do they work?
Are they worth using?
 
yes i have used one from HF for years--I just leave it on for the day--helps a lot after my 4 spine surgery's
 
Are you talking about a back belt? They do help somewhat. They keep the muscles warm so they won't cramp as easy. They also are stiff enough to sort of force you to lift properly. They won't stop your back from hurting while doing heavy work but can help. You don't want to keep one on constantly or your back will become used to it and you can't go without it.
 
My Chiropractor says they are only to remind you that you have a bad back. He's not a fan of them.
 
I use a weight lifting belt anytime I going to do things like your doing I also put icy hot on before
 
I'd think they'd be better than that corset thing I used to wear. There wasn't any give to that thing and it rubbed sores on me. Have you tried a well fitting pair of bibs? They pull in on the lower back instead of cutting in around the waist like a regular pair of pants does,provided they fit well.
 
I hear about one that is advertised on the radio that supposed to be good. They said to go to: endallbackpain.com. I think it's around $50.
 
I use the same (weight lifter's belt). In fact I have several located where I may do heavy work. I found the velcro elastic ones to be a waste of money.
 
Osha no longer requires them/acknowledges
them. For them to change their mind and
reduce "protection", there must be a lot of
evidence they don't work.
 
I have used one for a while usually when I am on the tractor and especially when on the dozer. I also wear it when I do a lot of lifting, I paid 17.00 at the local hardware store. They help me a lot. Best $17 I have spent in a long time.
