Going on 75 and feel all of it.

Terrible rain storm most of the day and the Twp had scraped sod into the ditch waterway and my field was being flooded. Hunkered down with my long-handled shovel and shoveled out about 350 feet of ditch. Tough shoveling but did it. Tonight every breath feels like stabbing pain in right shoulder. Kind of ok if I don't try to breathe. Wouldn't have this sharp pain twenty years ago!

YOu did pretty well considering. I'm 8 years younger and I don't think I would last as long as you did. Hope you recover in a couple days.

Hello wolfman,

Sounds like you pulled a pectoral muscle, hurts when you breath right?, but you sure flung a lot of dirt!. Will take a week at your age HE! HE! BTDT! One year being you. Now breath shallow and rest, you earned it,!

I am 80 and while undergoing chemo have been taking down old fences-sold all our animals-a project that has been going on for a year. Most days work 3-4 hours but need to rest in the PM. I recall when I put them all up I could go all day and not be very tired and not sore. To think the body was designed to last forever but our ancestor Adam and Eve brought death to the human race when they sinned. But if they hadn't been the ones I would have.

Worked a bit yesterday...so I'm taking it easy today. It seems like after 70 the physical years move faster. The physical difference between 70 and 75, is more than the difference between 60 and 65....at least in my case.

That's what one of the neighbors claims. He was always active, had horses, was a member of the Sheriff's Posse, tossed square bales around all the time. Said when he hit 75 it was just about all over. I was hauling manure up there last week and his son was there carrying most of his wood in the house for him.

I was hoping for 75,,but it looks like 61 to 62 did me in,,never expected it,,and its hard to except it.A year ago I was strong as a bull,,not now

Randy, when you get down to Woodford Co. give me a call and I'll intro you to the neighbors and we will have a burger..I'll buy. I have a lot of MI. time in my history....and...We can talk about why we are no longer invited to the party. My Dad was once an Oliver dealer, long long ago. How can I reach you?

"We can talk about why we are no longer invited to the party." LOL

I linked up my email on Classic, drop me a note. I haven't decided if we're coming down in August or not. Been thinking about hitting the US12 Yard Sale here in Michigan instead of the 127,but it's not set in stone. The inlaws usually come up here over Memorial weekend, but Sonny's grand daughter graduates high school that weekend so they can't make it. If we don't see them at least once this year,Mama ain't gonna be happy,so we might have to come down.

try a stroke at age 64, just 11 months after retiring. that was 6 years ago, up and going just not as fast or as long. never thought about dying young but never thought about myself at age 70+ either. Life is still good though.

"Never thought about myself at age 70+ either."

For some odd reason,I had that same feeling about turning 56. It was like some kind of premonition or something. I woke up just after midnight on my 56th birthday thinking "Dam,I made it. Now what? Time to make a new plan.". LOL

When I was your age I thought I was super man. Then now at 77 superman left. I remember my Dad at my age on the farm telling me that he just couldn't do some of the things that he wanted to do and I said "hell Dad nothing to it" Well that is BS. Always listen to your elders. I have had both shoulders worked on in the past 5 yrs. so am some slower now and get picky as to what I do. Heal real soon and then pace yourself. We only live once. Good Luck.
