Size/type of hydraulic fitting

Getting round to re-plumbing the hydraulics on my MF 135.
All the fittings are either 3/8" or 1/2" BS, except for the fittings on the loader rams (MF40 loader). The male fittings on the rams are as in the picture - measuring 19mm (3/4") across the outside of the (straight) threads. This is not a BS fitting - is it a SAE fitting? And if so would it be identified as being a 3/4" SAE fitting?
Thanks in anticipation of your help, Jim

Well it is NOT an SAE fitting. It is the very common JIC fitting. One of the most popular types used before the flat faced fittings came into common use. The attached chart shows you to sizes of the JIC fittings.

Yours is a male JIC #8 fitting. I would assume your hoses fit on this male fittings so you need female #8 JIC fittings. These can be straight, 90 degree,45 degree, short bends or long bends. All type are commonly available.

So what I need to finish the job are a couple of 3/8" BS (male) to #8 JIC (female) adapters. Exactly what I needed to know. Many thanks!
Jim

Why not just take you hose off and have the right fitting put on the end of the hose, no adapter needed?

Simply because the new hoses already have 3/8" BSP female fittings on them! Didn't realise until I dis-assembled all the old pipework completely that the fittings on the rams were different from EVERYWHERE else on the tractor. That's the problem with making too many assumptions! Adapters already sourced. Jim

You can just change the fitting in the cylinder, the one you took a picture of, rather than stack another adapter on top

Hmmm, thanks for that thought.
Wonder what thread is on the other end of it - in the cylinder wall? Only one way to find out, I suppose, but I think there is a 'dab' of weld holding it in. Jim

PS the one in the photo is not the actual fitting from the cylinder - its actually of a loose adapter with the same end on it.
