Auction Time

My mistake, however seems harsh. Opened auction time site where I sometimes bid on equipment. First item on site my cat stepped on BID NOW making a bid on an item. I quickly called . Was told sorry no way to cancel the bid. Explained was just one of those odd things, however I will still be obligated to pay for item unless another bidder goes higher. Site manager said that mistaken bid happens all the time, however they will not correct the mistake. I did get the sellers phone number. Very nice fellow ,said that's nuts. Yes he said I will not have to take the item. Also the seller said he was going to call Auction Time and complain that the policy was wrong. Contrary to what some of you may suggest I will keep the cat.LOL

I made that same comment about "even if the cat hits the bid button you own it" just a few weeks back on this site. First I will say your very lucky they gave you the sellers phone number. One thing you have to understand that if someone bids on and item and is a successful buyer then the owner expects to be paid. Remember the auction company does not own the items. A reputable auction company will pay the seller regardless if there is a problem with the bidder whether for non- payment or the cat hits the bid button. Therefore the auction company will hold the buyer to the bid because the auction company does not want to own the item. Buyers do have a responsibility! Keep the cat, dog, kids, goat, cow or whatever away from the bid button. It is not an unreasonable policy of the auction company.

On auction time you see who the seller is and have there numbers so you can view the item. The auction company is just the middle man,you pay the seller.

Besides not being able to retract bids it's a very friendly to use site. I am bidding on a few things now!

All the cat could have possibly bid is one increment, bidding on tuesday is usually slow so there is a high probability that someone will outbid the cat.

The reason the won't let you retract the bid is because 9 times out of 10, "My cat stepped on the mouse," is an excuse used by bidders with buyer's/bidder's remorse, and is a complete load of horse puckey.

Not sure what site your talking about, but any site I bid on, there are a lot of steps to get to the bid now key with a price in the box. You must have been thinking awful hard about bidding before the cat showed up.
