O/T iron in the water

My wife is asking how to get iron stains out of the bathroom stools I hate to run soft water through them. Thanks in advance. J.

Iron out! Works for us, shake a little in the water and leave it sit, and scrub it. Some folks add a little to the brine tank of their softener, we just buy the better salt.

Why do you not want to run soft water through them? The flush flappers, fill valves, will last mcuh longer, plus less iron and calcium build up. Everything in my house is on soft water except for the cold side of the kitchen sink where we get our drinking water.

i use SPARKEL , works lots better than iron out.contains hydrochloric acid so only for porcelain as in toilet bowls. works fast.

I agree, plumb them into the soft water.

Not counting the labor saved in cleaning, the cleaning chemicals would cost as much or more than the extra regeneration.

All those acids for cleaning removing those so called terrible looks are real hard on a septic system if that is what you have. Yes my wife uses them some. Not weekly but weakly.

You could put an iron filter on the incoming line. It will protect your softener as well as your toilets. Mine catches a LOT of iron.
