Spinner spreader settings?

Most info I can find on what to set spinner spreaders at for what amount of product you want per acre are very Vague and only offer settings for a few types fertilizer and a few seed types. Is there a source for a more expanded list of settings to use as a jumping off point or is there some other way to calculate the feed rate of just how much you are putting out per acre?

Look on your chart and see if it is marked for density. This would pounds per cubic foot. Then find out the density of what your spreading. This is a much more accurate way to set the spreader.

Try to figure out what settings you need for a similar product to what you are using.

Set it for 1/2 that rate, go spread. If you get the field done and have about 1/2 right, then your guess was pretty close, go back over the field
again for the rest of the product.

If you were off quite a bit, now you can guess much closer as to what would have been the right rate setting, jot it down for next year, and adjust
the settings to respread over the field to use up the right amount of produce for this year.

Small differences in how the hole got pinched out, how the label got stuck on, where the bracket was welded on, can make a huge difference
on how much product you are applying. Especially when you are in clover or some such very low rate, small amount type products.

"Just pounds per acre at various gate settings. I could calculate pounds per square foot from that?"

There's 43,560 square feet in an acre, so (as an example) if you apply 100 actual pounds of product per acre, pounds per square foot is 100/43,560, or about 0.0023 ponds per acre.

On the asphalt crew we laid down a 1ft x 1ft square cloth(tarp)and then when we ran the drop spreader over it,(traction additive) then the cloth was weighted to prove we were putting down what the state was paying for.

On our trailer spinner spreader. Just holds
about 150lb. I down load a acre counter to
my phone. Or you can use a wheel. If i want
20 lb to acre i use a bathroom scales and
just put that much in spreader. Then spread
the acre. See how it goes. Then write all
the adjustments on spreader. Like speed.
Width. Gate opening. Type of seed or
fertilize. Oh 43560sq ft in a acre.
