Found a 440 Stihl forsale in good shape so picked it up. Bought it from a dealer, new 18" bar&chain, rebuilt the carb sime new mounts ,clutch springs plug &tuneup. 70cc 5.4 hp. Used a 044 if a friends last fall which is basically the same saw and it's a beast for blocking big firewood. Now we don't use the saw gear anymore figured the extra hp over the 034 would come in handy. The 034 is pretty near worn out and was only worth for parts on trade so I kept it to use to cut myself out of jams in the woods.

A chain saw is handy to have around. I use mine getting fire wood, and keeping trees in shape around the place. I wish my dad had one when I was growing up. He had a two man crosscut saw, I can still here him say pull the saw, don't push. Stan

An MS 440 has been my main (and till 2-3 years ago only) chainsaw since 2004. I like mine a lot and I'm sure you'll like yours. I cut about 30 standard cords of firewood a year, cut trees for our sawmill, and use the saw around the mill on logs people bring me to cut. It's done a lot of work for me.

I've got a 440 that I picked up used at a yard sale for a song. I saw a new one at the dealer they were nearly $1000. I use my smaller 290 most of the time.

I paid $500 for this one. The bar and chain here is $90 alone. They had a brand new 441 on the shelf and lists at $1260

And I thought I was the only one that happened to. First few times it was oil everywhere, I've since learned to check. Sam

That?s a great deal, I snagged a well used 361 from a safety instructor a couple of years ago that has joined a 360 and 260.

My grandpa used to say "It's like the old Dutchman said 'You can't have it & I can't have it.'"
