How long is it good for? I got a small bottle a year ago and used it for a few things then poured it back in the bottle. I put a part in it 2-3 days ago and it doesn't seem to be doing much.

It's a chemical reaction so it will get used up but it takes a while. It's also temperature dependent so it works a lot slower when cold. I've had some 2-3 years and still good.

I have used it several times before. Even picked up a 3.5 gallon bucket, and soaked my entire pressure plate assembly for my F20. Went in
looking rough, came out darn clean and with some lube it actually worked really well. Directions say you can use it continuously until it
turns black, and then it has lost all of its' capability. Doesn't say anything about age. I would definitely buy it again, and I know it
works first hand. I wonder how it would go filling a fuel tank with it, for rust removal.

I have done electrolysis with ok results (just my first try over the last week). It is my understanding, though, that this method does not
work well with hard water.

Hard water won't hurt electrolysis. Hard water is towards the base side of the pH scale as is the soda that you put in the electrolysis tub
