The Gov of the great state of New Jersey wants to legalize Pot. So forget about the corn and soybean, it's time to hop on the 8n and get planting. Profit margins got to be at an all time (High)

The market's already flooded where it's legal. It's illegal to move it from one state where it's legal to another state where it's legal too,so all they can do is sell it illegally.

I heard they want to legalize marijuana in all 50 states and use the money for fixing roads and highways. They will call it Operation POT HOLE.

Now med pot legalize in the great state of Pennsylvania. The drug of choice but not in your garden Larry!

As a practical matter it may as well be legal just like alcohol Americans will get their drugs one way or the other.Anyway why should US farmers be stuck going broke growing
low value crops like soybeans and corn and let the Mexican farmers grow the high value crops like pot?

Yep, all kinds of talk among the usual suspects here about how much money they are going to make. I guess that they will learn what the farmers of other crops have known for quite a long time about supply and demand. People think that the guns and violence will go away with legal pot but I suspect the opposite. There will still be a black market because it will sell cheaper than Walgreen's. The problems will no longer be a thousand miles away with people nobody knows but amongst neighbors and relatives once a bunch of different parties decide that they want to be the local pot kings.

I want to mix it in the silage to give the cattle the munchies. They'll eat more and grow faster.

That'd be a plus. All the help at the sale barn goes running the other way when they see me pulling in.

i would like to see commercial hemp being legal in the U.S. in the U.k. it is a big cash crop and used in manufacturing of paper products, plastics, hemp concrete and many other applications. it will grow in very poor soils. iirc, they can harvest 3 to 4 crops a year there. lot of u tube videos on commercial hemp. also, google hempcrete, which is a concrete made from the hemp plant. it is carbon negative (for the greenies) and is stronger and lasts longer than regular concrete.

Somebody must be making a lot of money on it, probably a good amount goes to the government.

They were showing some video on TV inside one of the stores... Wow! Nothing cheap about that high!

Come to Colorado. No, Don't!!! Since (medicinal AND recreational)marajuana has been legalized, every 'pothead' in America is moveing here. The market has gone south because everybody can now legally grow it.Now hemp is coming in with high 'pie in the sky' promises of high profits.I personally know several folks who are planting it. We will see.....I have spent last week plowing up and working a 40 acre 'cow pasture' that has NEVER been plowed before to plant into (medical) hemp. This pasture is at 7000 ft altitude.

HA - Randy you made me remember telling the seasoned hands at the sale barn to watch out for this steer that I'm about to let out of the trailer. One of them rolled his eyes and casually said to let him out - he'd handle him. I swung the gate open and that steer put them all on the top rail.

I saw a guy like that in 1966. At Fort Worth stock yards. Dad unloaded some steers dad told the stock worker. To be careful. Guy laughed at dad said there was any animal he couldn't handle. We heard later. That after he got out of the hospital. The guy wasn't so cocky.

I'm in Washington state one local grower here has 250 employee's , it just might be the crop of the future

Billy - sometimes it seems like people deserve to get hurt - not that I would wish that on anyone.

I remember another bad one where I warned the yard guys and they thanked me for the warning. Everything went smooth because they weren't cocky about it.

glennster I feel the same way. I want INDUSTRIAL hemp. The kind with low THC. As we all know hemp can make great rope. It produces a stronger and softer fabric that can be used in virtually everything, it can grow where most traditional crops cant. Its oils can be used in plastics, lubricants, paints, and the list can go on. And lets not forget the paper making capacity as well. and best of all, the infrastructure to grow and harvest the plant already exists. You simply mow and bale it like grass or hay.

I have pondered why they don't breed the THC out of the plant and then make it so that it cannot be bred with other hemp plants. I believe by definition if a organism can no longer breed with its old species then it legally becomes its own species (no longer the illegal drug pot).

The main point being: take out the HIGH (THC) and you have a viable crop.

Ohio just has medical maryjane and has limited the growers to a select few. Takes no small investment to get into that end of it.

When we pulled in last week, the wife said "Here come's the guy with the crazy cattle". Sure enough,I pulled up,Laura opened the window and "Here comes the guy with the crazy cattle".

laws only apply to honest people you can have all the pieces of paper with words on them criminal's don't give a sh-t

The war on drugs has been such a success over the last 40 years why would we want to consider any changes.....LOL.
47% of the people in jail are there on drug related crimes....and that has stopped the illegal drugs in the USA ..LOL.

47% of federal prisoners, but most of them are for trafficking. Only 247 of 94,678 were possession only. In state prisons, the rate is about 15% Of the prisoners held by state prisons, 44,700 of 197,200 individuals convicted of drug related offenses were convicted of only possession. State prisons held about 1,298,159 so roughly 3.4% are convicted of possession and 11.6% for trafficking.
On average, 3.9% of homicides are drug related. I'd hate to see the stats for Mexico.
About 26% of victims of other crimes report that the perpetrator appeared to be under the influence of drugs, alcohol or both.
The bureau of Justice Statistics has a wealth of information about crime and drugs. If the drug users weren't stealing to get their drug money, I would not care. Since they tend to fund their next high by taking from me, my friends and my neighbors, I care.

"laws only apply to honest people you can have all the pieces of paper with words on them criminal's don't give a sh-t"

Ain't that the truth!

kansasredneck, you have a lot of statistics posted here.
I can't disagree with any of them but do you have a source for them?
I also wholeheartedly agree with this statement: "they tend to fund
their next high by taking from me, my friends and my neighbors, I care."

I wondered why the Koch Brothers are placing adds requesting federal legalization of pot, I think they may be wanting in the business.
