What would be a good crop to sow or plant for grazing on a hundred acre plot in central Texas this time of year? 2. If I sowed sudan what is the rate of seed per acre. Thanks if you know.

Sudan is about the only thing. The planting rate is 60 - 90 pounds per acre. I'd say if you were east of I35 then plant the heavier rate and the lighter rate on the west side.

Hybrid Sudan for grazing I'd plant 30 to 50 lbs depending on the soil and conditions. If you have a row planter you can go down to 15 lbs and not give up much grazing. The cows will mostly walk in the middles and not knock down as much feed. Tony

If we don't start getting some rain, it won't matter what you plant. I've had 2.2" since Oct.'17 in the hill country. Super dry with high winds.
