OT: Family Needs Help

Hello all!

Well, I'm not sure if this is allowed, but I figured if not it will be deleted. One of my lifelong friends (my longest lifelong friend) was
involved in a work injury a little over a year ago. Workers Compensation has since dropped him leaving him, his wife, and his three young
kids without any insurance or income. He is a fellow tractor enthusiast/motorhead like myself... And I know how much this forum and the
people on it love helping others.. Because you all have helped me so much! I have included a couple photos over the years to keep it
tractor related. Once of them he (Domino), is painting my Case SC for me. Heck of a guy. He and his family is always there to help others,
and now it is my turn to do something really great for them.

I have started a GoFundMe for them, to help them with some tough finances (medical bills, mortgage, etc.). He is currently battling with
doctors, attorneys, Worker's Compensation, etc.. A nightmare of things. If anyone can give the family a little boost, as you have done
several times over for me... I know that it would be really appreciated. I totally understand if the post is deleted as well. Not trying to
solicit - just want to help out my best bud the best way I can... What better way to do that than to get some tractor folk involved. Link

That's how it is supposed to be. People helping people in need.Kuddos to you for your efforts.

I was taught that people help people in need. I will send something wont be much because I am getting over a stroke. So I know some of the problems he is facing. Money runs out and bills pile up fast.

I suggest your friend talk to a Workman's Comp attorney. Many will talk to you at no charge. They can navigate the bureaucracy. If you would have a monetary settlement, they would probably take a percentage as payment for services.

He is currently going through this process and had his first legal hearing already. I believe they are taking the case to trial. Has not been a fun road for him or his family.

Has he tried to apply for social security disability while he is disabled? HE Can apply on line answer all questions and have medical documentation even only a temporary situation you can still apply for SS . Granted it won't be like earning a regular income but at this point every little bit helps.

Be aware also that if he applies for Social Security Disability that most are denied the first time. Don't be discouraged just appeal and reapply. Will likely go through the second time and the payments will start at the date of the first application. Went through this with step daughter, nothing like dealing with the gov't. I wish your friend well in his fight.

This tractor community, both online and local, are really some great folks. Myself and the club members of our little local club, talk about it ALL the time. You can't find these kind of folks anywhere else.... (And some don't want to)!!!

Thank you very much for the information! I will have him check into this - I am not sure if him or his family was aware of it. It would be really great if he could get some sort of income - his wife is a nurse but cannot work currently due to his condition. He canot be home with the kids alone because if he has a fainting spell and something happens, with a 4 month old, a 4 year old, and a 11 year old (who is at school most of the time)... It is just too risky.
