john deere 500c won't start /

i was back blading with my bucket and the tractor shut off. put new starter and batteries in it, it still is very hard to start. it finally started but then when i shut it off it is cranking hard again and wont start. any idea what could be wrong.??????

You don't have a stuck hydraulic lever, loading the pump?

While attempting to start engine turn steering wheel vigorously back & forth. Turning steering wheel while attempting to start will relieve hyd pressure build-up easing load on starter.

You bought a lot of parts before you did your troubleshooting! Does it have the type of hydraulic pump that you can disengage, either mechanically or hydraulically? Have you gone over all your battery cables? Have you tried bypassing them with jumper cables?
