OT---Mail Box dots

Don't know if this has been discussed or not.
Sometimes yesterday, someone placed two small (reflectors) stickers on each side of my rural mail box.
I googled it and came up with all sorts of [i:de15494585]suggestions[/i:de15494585].
Anyone know their purpose?

(quoted from post at 20:46:20 03/20/18) Our paper carrier (when we used to get the paper) would put those on to
signify weekly and or Sunday papers.

I haven't received a delivered newspaper in over twelve years.

Around here it's the paper girl, too. One dot for daily delivery, two dots for daily and Sunday.
The volunteer fire dept here did a deal one time where they put markers on mailboxes for the number of structures on a property, but they rely on other methods now.

Hey neighbor across the river, the Cullman Times
is discontinuing its Sunday's paper and home
delivery by independent carrier. All home
deliveries will be by the United States Postal
Service.

Placed there by Martians who typically return in four nights to collect human
specimens. Do NOT return to the mailbox. Get your brother in law to watch your
house wednesday night.

What time does your mail carrier deliever? Possibly after dark? They could be to let him know where the box is when his headlights hit it. Easy to go past a box in dark. I delievered rural newspapers to boxes for over 15 years and a 140 mile a day. Lots of times at night. They had discontinued that tho about 20 years ago. They do not reflect very long from getting dirty.
