Paul Allen must be still working around Guadalcanal as they just found the Juneau.
Juneau was lost in 1942 and the 5 Sullivan Brothers went down with her.

I wonder why he is looking for these lost ships? Perhaps its only curiosity and that he has lots of money to do this.
 
Amazing story. Because of the sacrifices of thousands for our freedom, the Guadalcanal battle should be studied in every school history class in America.
 
Paul Allen does have enormous wealth. Maybe he just likes rusty steel and iron. Like most of us on this forum. gobble
 
I used to work with a fellow who was a survivor of the Juneau.

He was in the water for about 12 hours before he was picked up. He said he thought it was a big adventure. Said he was a dumb 17 year old kid and didn't have sense enough to be scared.

Wow... the books say that the Juneau had only 10 survivors, and they were picked up 8 days after she sank. Would be interesting to get more information from this guy - if he is legitimate, it would be new information!
 
I grew up next door to Allen Heyn. He was one of the 10 survivors. They were in the water for 9 days. No one was picked up after 12 hrs. I think someone was feeding you a line.
