What kind of bug did this to my pine tree? Location= South Central Kentucky. The photo is taken with the bark removed and about a foot off the ground. Will it spread and if so, how do I treat the rest of the pine trees in my lot. Don't want to loose them all.

Thanks

Sorry. I struggle with photos.

Pine beetles, better cut it don ASAP, if other pines are close
by they may already be infested too, the pine beetles will
travel tree to tree, foresters cut infected trees down to stop the
airborne spread....

I?ve got some on my property in Deep South Alabama that?s infected too, going to cut them down in next few days and hope other trees are okay, when you start seeing pine sap dripping from the bark with pine dust/saw dust on side of the tree it?s too late, the tree is a goner ....

Colorado is getting a lot of pine trees killed off right now from some infestation. I forget what they call it ? Google may find it.

I suspect there are various forms of Pine Beetles. The Mountain Pine Beetle is causing a lot of problems up here in the north west ......
see the link information and map. Obviously, if you have Pine Beetles, it is some other species.
Mountain Pine Beetle

Zimmerman pine moth. Killed most of my pine trees 3 years ago. I prolonged death by spraying dursban on the trunk for about 6 years. Finally could not spray high enough and the moth won. Good Luck

Spraying standing trees is useless.
You have to cut down the effected trees in order to effectively spray.
Or cut them down along with a few surrounding unaffected trees.
Into a pile and burn.

State entomologist from University of KY said it was a Sawyer Beetle. I think I will spray a few of the surrounding trees just in case!
