Roundbale cutting

Anyone have a source for roundbale cutting chain saw chain? Does it work?

Any chain saw will work just pull up with the blade so hay won't wrap. It will dull a blade fast

I don't agree with the chain saw not wrapping,, but I have wondered about using a hedge trimmer...

On small round bales we used an ax.

get a ripping chain for chainsaw sawmill they work good,depending on type of hay ,grind rakers down

28 years ago we used a recipricatig saw ( sawzall) with a 10in blade sharpened like a bread knife and of course battery saws have come a long way

When I was using a chain saw, alfalfa worked great. Grass hay wrapped and eventually took out the crankshaft seal. It’s a nice quick way to open up a bale tho.

sharp chainsaw and don't go fast. never had it wrap on me but bales wee hard core and TIGHT

Why don't you just put it up on its end and unwrap it as you go works great for us

I've never cut a round bale but we cut cranberry vine square bales when planting fields.
Full speed and cut into the bale with the top of the bar.
