water temp probe to long

tried to replace the original non working gauge on my ford 6610 today but the probe on new gauge is longer than the oem. can they be cut or are they hollow inside? or will i be better off to buy a fitting to screw in the head first so it will bring the probe out some and work? or any other suggestions? thanks alot

i ran into this on my fergie to-20. put a fitting in to space it up a little. you cannot cut the tube. (well you could but then it would no longer work)

not being able to see a photo of the probe hard to speculate if a fitting would work , buy
an oem gauge from ford.

you can add another bushing to the one you have to raise it up out of the head or where ever it is

Don't cut it, and don't crush it.

It will need to be spaced out, or better yet, find the correct sender.

DON"T CUT IT, has it is filled with inert gas, most likely CO-2.

A lot of the stuff we work with on commercial equipment have glycerin
in the bulb. You cut it and it is ruined. Get a couple of spacer
bushings.
