600 ford head

My 600 Ford 134 cu in head is cracked and I have a good 172 cu in head. I have been told that I can use the 172 head as long as I use 134 head gasket. Is that possible? Would they use the same valve train? The 134 uses 7/16"bolts and the 172 uses 1/2"bolts but I see in the catalogues that bushings are available to adapt the 7/16"bolts. How does that sound? Any advice or experience would help before I proceed. Thanks

You can make it work but, as previously mentioned, you will loose CR, torque and power.

Indeed, some folks install 134 CI heads on 172 CI engines to increase CR.

You will be better off with a 134 CI head.
